At Restoration MedSpa, we’re excited to be the first in the Greensboro area to offer the Aerolase® NeoElite! This laser is a versatile new laser that provides gentle, complete skin rejuvenation for all skin types, including those with medium-to-dark skin tones.
When it comes to Aerolase, we’ve heard all the rumors in Greensboro: Aerolase is painful. Aerolase has significant downtime. Aerolase is only for cosmetic purposes.
We believe every patient deserves the complete truth about any of our aesthetic procedures, including the Aerolase laser in Greensboro.
Learn the truth below:
Myth #1: The Aerolase® Neo® Elite isn’t safe for clients with darker skin tones.
Fact: The device is safe for all skin tones.
The laser is “inclusive by design” and safe for all skin tones on the Fitzpatrick scale, unlike traditional laser devices. It uses rapid light pulses, each faster than the blink of an eye, ensuring all skin types receive safe and effective treatment.
Short, rapid light pulses bypass the epidermis and transform into thermal energy in the dermis (middle layer of skin). These pulses penetrate deeper into the skin than traditional laser devices, ensuring safer treatment for darker skin tones. The speed also limits the spread of thermal energy outside the targeted areas.
Aerolase also reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), or dark spots, appearing on medium-to-dark skin, which is a common unwanted side effect of traditional laser therapies.
Myth #2: The Aerolase NeoElite is only for cosmetic purposes.
Fact: The NeoElite is FDA-cleared for over 30 skin conditions.
FDA-cleared means we can treat skin conditions like acne, melasma, and rosacea. Autoimmune disorders, like psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, eczema, and vitiligo, may also improve with the Aerolase laser in Greensboro.
NeoElite also stimulates the production of collagen, a protein responsible for skin strength and structure, and improves blood circulation, addressing a variety of skin concerns safely and effectively.
Myth #3: The NeoElite will make my acne worse.
Fact: This laser is a clinically proven acne treatment.
In a 2014 clinical study, 87% of participants showed acne reduction 90 days after their final Aerolase treatment.
By clearing P. acnes bacteria, known to cause acne, and reducing sebum (oil) production, the NeoElite treats current breakouts and helps prevent future ones. The device also soothes inflammation, which can reduce redness in the skin.
Furthermore, the NeoElite doesn’t have any of the side effects or long wait times common with most acne creams or medications. You can even receive treatment with the Aerolase laser in Greensboro in conjunction with other acne treatments as a comprehensive acne strategy.
Myth #4: The Aerolase NeoElite will make my melasma worse.
Fact: The Aerolase safely and effectively treats melasma.
This device targets three types of melasma (dark, irregular patches on the skin):
- UV-induced: Commonly known as sun spots or age spots, and caused by sun exposure.
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH): Often caused by inflammation from cutaneous diseases (those that affect the integumentary system, or skin). Commonly associated with acne and eczema.
- Melanin overproduction: Stress triggers the body to increase cortisol production. Cortisol can cause your body to overproduce melanin, leading to dark patches on the skin.
By targeting melanin deep within the dermis, this Aerolase laser has a lower risk of triggering PIH than fractional lasers. Targeted hemoglobins (red pigment in veins) further reduce the appearance of melasma, while new collagen fibers improve skin strength and structure.
In clinical trials, participants showed 50% to 80% improvement in melasma appearance after 4 to 6 treatments spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart.
Some clients prefer the Aerolase laser in Greensboro to other melasma treatments (topicals, chemical peels, other laser devices) because the NeoElite:
- Requires no downtime
- Safely treats all skin tones
- Lowers the risk of side effects
Myth #5: All lasers, including the Aerolase NeoElite, require skin contact.
Fact: The NeoElite is a no-touch laser.
While traditional laser treatments require the device hand piece to be directly against the skin for effective treatment, the Aerolase laser device hovers over the skin. Cooling gels, often required to protect the skin’s surface from burning, are not necessary.
The NeoElite uses a collimated beam (where light rays travel with minimal spreading), ensuring consistent treatment whether the device is 1 inch or 3 inches away.
Myth #6: The Aerolase laser treatment is painful.
Fact: Clients experience minimal to no discomfort with the NeoElite laser.
The Aerolase laser in Greensboro was designed with comfort and inclusivity in mind. Clients experience pain-free, needle-free, and comfortable rejuvenation with the Aerolase NeoElite.
With a unique system of multiple light pulses, light energy quickly absorbs into the skin without pain or discomfort. Conversely, traditional laser treatments can be uncomfortable or painful.
At Restoration MedSpa, we take additional measures to ensure client comfort. Immediately following an appointment, a Restoration MedSpa team member applies a cooling peptide mask to soothe the skin and encourage faster healing. Then, they apply additional serums and sunscreen to protect the client’s skin before they leave.
Myth #7: The Aerolase NeoElite isn’t safe in the summer.
Fact: NeoElite is safe year-round.
While traditional laser devices aren’t safe to use during sunny months due to increased skin sensitivity following treatment, the NeoElite laser is safe year-round.
Gently heating the skin minimizes excessive thermal damage in the dermis, allowing clients to enjoy sun exposure immediately following their appointment. Aerolase lasers also penetrate deeper into the skin than traditional lasers, minimizing damage to the skin’s upper layers (epidermis).
At Restoration MedSpa, we recommend precautionary skin care for clients undergoing the Aerolase laser in Greensboro. Wait 2 to 4 weeks after excess sun exposure or sunburns before scheduling appointments. Keeping your skin hydrated can also minimize skin sensitivity before and after treatment.
Myth #8: The NeoElite has significant downtime.
Fact: Clients can resume their normal day-to-day activities immediately following treatment.
The Aerolase laser is gentle and non-ablative. The device emits light that bypasses the epidermis and enters the dermis. Controlled thermal damage occurs exclusively in the dermis, reducing the risk of redness, swelling, and peeling skin.
As a result, clients can resume their normal activities immediately following their appointment. Thus, the NeoElite device is perfect for those with busy lives who can’t fit extended downtime into their schedules.
Myth #9: Aerolase laser results are permanent.
Fact: Results are long-lasting, not permanent.
Following a series of 4 to 6 sessions, each 2 to 4 weeks apart, results can feel permanent. The truth? The Aerolase laser in Greensboro boasts long-lasting results.
Light emitted from the NeoElite device absorbs into the dermis as thermal energy. This stimulates the body’s natural healing process, increasing collagen and elastin production. These proteins are the foundation of healthy skin, improving skin strength, structure, and elasticity.
Rejuvenating your skin from the inside out yields results that last longer than more superficial treatments. However, you will need to attend maintenance appointments scheduled by your provider to maintain your new, healthy glow.
