After reviewing your medical history and examining your skin, your provider will help you decide if Sculptra dermal filler treatment is your best solution and schedule your sessions accordingly.
Treatment
Sculptra’s one-of-a-kind formula is made up of microparticles of poly-L-lactic acid. This microscopic game changer consists of small particles encapsulated in fluid, which we inject beneath the skin using an ultra-fine needle. You may experience minor discomfort during the injections, but most patients report that the process is completely tolerable. As Sculptra works to gradually build your collagen levels, your skin will return to a healthier, more youthful state.
Recovery
There is zero downtime after Sculptra injections! Immediately after your treatment, you’ll notice a temporary volume boost, plus the fading of wrinkles and fine lines. As your collagen levels gradually rise after treatment, it may take up to 6 weeks to achieve optimal results.
Most of our patients need 3 to 8 rounds of injections to achieve their best results. Each session is typically scheduled 4 weeks from the last, allowing your skin time to heal and produce more collagen. After completing your injection series, you’re results will reach their peak within 8 to 12 weeks. To maintain your results from Sculptra in Greensboro, we recommend scheduling annual maintenance sessions.
Although Sculptra injections require no downtime, you may experience minor bruising or bleeding at the injection points. These side effects can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days, but you’re free to cover them with concealer and return to your makeup routine just a few hours after your treatment. Our providers recommend avoiding strenuous physical activity for the following 48 hours. You should also refrain from alcohol, smoking, blood-thinning medications, and herbal supplements (only if advised by your provider) for the 5 days leading up to and following your Sculptra appointment.
Most other dermal fillers are powered by hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance your body naturally produces. HA works to “fill” depleted volume and boosts collagen levels.
Sculptra’s unique formula consists of poly-L-lactic acid. This solution is not designed to act as a filler but rather as a biostimulant to enhance collagen production.
