One of the nice pluses of laser hair removal at Restoration MedSpa is that you’ll see positive results immediately after treatment. However, to ensure the removal is permanent, most patients need at least 6 to 8 treatments. Hair undergoes growth cycles, where some follicles are active (anagen) while others might be in the resting phase (telogen). When resting, the hair is there, but it is not growing. The shedding phase (exogen) is when the follicle releases the hair.
Not all follicles are in the same phase in your treatment area, so any that have shed the hair but not started the anagen phase at the time of treatment will end up producing hair. That’s why it can take at least 6 treatments to permanently reduce unwanted hair in your treatment area. Treatments are done every 4 to 8 weeks to allow the growth cycle to complete.
Each patient is different, so the number of treatments will depend on our specific biology. Furthermore, although laser hair removal permanently reduces hair growing at the time of treatment, new hair may grow as a result of changes in hormone production, potentially requiring touch-up treatments.
