Get ready for some straight talk about Qwo (collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes) – a
prescription medicine used to inject and treat moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. It is a long-awaited and first-of-its-kind treatment option. It’s not fully
understood how Qwo works, but it’s believed that the enzymes called collagenases in the
product target the structural causes of cellulite working in three ways:
- Releasing fibrous bands
- Redistributing fat cells
- Stimulating the growth of new collagen
Three treatments are recommended, scheduled 21 days apart. The injections take as little as 10 minutes, and while you can expect the treatment to last for more than a year, it is likely that the reduction in cellulite could be permanent.* There are currently no other non-surgical options.
*Individual results may vary. You should not receive Qwo if you are allergic to any collagenase or the ingredients in Qwo or have an active infection in the treatment area. Serious side effects: allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis (hypersensitivity), and injection site bruising may occur. These are not all the side effects of Qwo. Talk to your provider to determine if you are a Qwo candidate.
